The
66th Annual Coast Lumber Grading Championship is being held at the
Cedar Hill Recreation Complex in Victoria, BC on May 30, 1998.
The contest has run continuously under the direction of the Council of
Forest Industry, Pacific Lumber Inspection Bureau and Macdonald Inspection
Services Ltd. Canadian Mill
Services presently run the Championship with participation from Macdonald
Inspection Services. The contest
reflects the diverse grades and lumber products derived from the BC Coast
timber. The grading rules include
NLGA: Boards & Structural grades, clears, doorstock and shop grades, R list
clears and timbers and British Standard 4978 structural grades.
The
lumber producers benefit from these contests as participants prepare and sharpen
their grading skills. A skilled
lumber grader can sort lumber with better results, for satisfied customers and
higher mill returns.
As a grading agency, Macdonald Inspection supports participation in these events.
