First Survey Results

Every year the Canadian Lumber Standards and American Lumber Standards field inspectors conduct two surveys on all accredited Canadian agencies.  The Canadian and American authorities choose mills by a computer generated random process selection.  Unannounced visits are made to these mills accompanied by an agency inspector when possible.  The field inspector follows an item selection protocol and will inspect as many items specified in the protocol depending on available stock at the mill site.

The survey results are compiled and the agency is informed of the results.  The agency is accountable for the mills performance which shall be held to a maximum of 5% below grade.  The mills in turn have a contractual obligation to follow agency’s guideline and direction in maintaining lumber grade proficiency.  The results of the first survey for 1 are well within the required tolerances:

¨      Canadian Lumber Standards at 2.6 % below grade.

¨      American Lumber Standards at 3.3% below grade.

Macdonald Inspection would like to thank all the graders whose skills and diligence made these results possible.
